I am a week old tomorrow

Postby linda » Thu Nov 26, 2009 12:55 am

Hello... I'm an IQ2 and I will be a week old tomorrow. I am still finding my feet with my new owner. She used to have a beautiful MGF soft top which, I am led to believe, was the love of her driving life but was a massive drain on her resources. So deciding to save money (in the long run, hopefully) and with her growing concern for the planet she traded in her lovely car for me...'silver frog' and began a totally new driving experience! Her whole perspective of the road has changed... as well as the driving position and it's taking a while for us to gel. We've only done 120 miles so far, but we are bonding. Once I had showed her my manual and all the things I could do, she stopped complaining and took me out for a trip to the seaside.
We will no doubt soon be best of friends once she gets used to me and I'm kind of glad the weather is rubbish at the moment so she can't complain about getting my lid off!

My owner has given me a bit of a thrashing since we teamed up at the end of July! Thirteen thousand miles but he keeps me clean and my sound system just loves the tunes on his ipod. :P

Dear Silver Frog, it's always very hard for humans to swap their auto-companions and they need to be given time to adjust - a little patience with them at the beginning can pay huge dividends as your relationship blossoms. The fact that your human has already spent time reading your manual and taken you on a nice trip out together is very promising. Don't feel threatened by her old MGB, remember she actually chose you to replace it. Just take every opportunity to impress her with your excellent handling, reliability and economy, and memories of her previous companion will soon fade.

My human-to-be has been with her current auto-companion for nearly 16 years and I understand fully that she'll be a little sad when they part, but I intend to remain cheerful throughout, as I know in a very short while she will love me utterly.

Us little cars have to keep the faith,

Ruby-to-be (expected birthday 21st January 2010) :D

Thanks Ruby. To be perfectly honest my human is getting the hang of me now that we are nearly 2 weeks old and we have over 250 miles of getting to know each other.
She's taken me through the New Forest and got my feet well and truly wet and muddy, I had to squeak my brakes at her once as she took me through a ford too deep! However my saving grace, which she has commented to all and sundry, is that I am water tight and her old wheels had various water inlets which was very annoying.
I think by the end of the year she will have forgotten about her old wheels and be appreciative that I am a cheap date!
Silver Frog.
